The resultant vascular fragility tends to manifest in normotensive elderly patients as lobar intracerebral hemorrhage. Cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA), is a form of angiopathy in which amyloid beta peptide deposits in the walls of small to medium blood vessels of the central nervous system and meninges. [2] [3] The term congophilic is sometimes used because the presence of the abnormal aggregations of amyloid can be demonstrated by microscopic examination of Cerebral amyloid angiopathy-related inflammation (CAARI) is a recently recognized syndrome of reversible encephalopathy seen in a subset of patients with cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA). CAA is a disorder of the elderly in which amyloid peptides are deposited in the walls of cerebral arteries, leading to microhemorrhages, macrohemorrhages, and eventually dementia. La angiopatía amiloide cerebral (AAC) es una afección en la cual las proteínas llamadas amiloides se acumulan en las paredes de las arterias cerebrales. La AAC incrementa el riesgo de accidente cerebrovascular causado por sangrado y demencia. In this case report, wediscuss the role of cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) in cognitive decline, dueto structural lesions associated with hemorrhages and infarcts, white matterlesions and co-morbidity of Alzheimer’s disease, as well as the most recentlydescribed amyloid angiopathy-related inflammation.

Introduction: Cerebral amyloid angiopathy-related inflammation (CAA-ri) is an entity characterised by an inflammatory response to β-amyloid deposition in the walls of cerebral microvessels. Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of a series of patients with a diagnosis of CAA-ri according to histopathological study findings or clinical-radiological diagnostic criteria. Cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) is an important cause of spontaneous cortical-subcortical intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) in the normotensive elderly. CAA is a cerebrovascular disorder characterized by the deposition of β-amyloid protein in the media and adventitia of small and medium-sized vessels of the cerebral cortex, subcortex, and leptomeninges. In this case report, we discuss the role of cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) in cognitive decline, due to structural lesions associated with hemorrhages and infarcts, white matter lesions and co-morbidity of Alzheimer's disease, as well as the most recently described amyloid angiopathy-related inflammation.

The Modified Boston criteria were proposed in 2010 in order to incorporate cortical superficial siderosis into the radiological diagnosis of probable cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) 1. They comprise of combined clinical, imaging and pathological parameters, and are based upon the original Boston criteria which were proposed in 1995 2. The most angiopatia amiloide are intracranial hemorrhage ICH and angiopatia amiloide cerebral.
